'The Access and Participation activities at Brunel ensures that all students have the support they need to succeed when enrolling to university, during university and after graduating. The initiatives offered aim to help and guide students in all realms of university life, including: academic support, wellbeing support, career guidance and more. Specific services are offered depending on your year of study, as well as support that we be accessible throughout your time at university. Having participated in different initiatives myself whilst at university, they have been important additions to both my overall student experience and for my future career. Joining in the Brunel Summer Internship Programme gave me the opportunity to complete a summer internship in engineering following first year, which has since largely helped to expand and accelerate my career prospective. The industry experience I gained has proved invaluable, in particular when pursing further external opportunities. As part of the Access and Participation work, the Brunel Mentoring Scheme is also offered. Through this I was able to speak to an engineer, to better understand the industry, their career path taken, as well as more tailored support with placement opportunities. Pursing these initiatives offered as part of Brunel’s Access and Participation work has been a valuable addition.'
