My research looks into applying the compassionate leadership model in universities in response to the recent change which has seen the UK higher education landscape shift towards a global atmosphere of competitiveness, complexity, and uncertainty for academic staff.

Through my research, I’ve learnt the importance of having compassion for myself, self-compassion, and also being compassionate towards others.

  • One of my passions is music, and I play piano. I created an original piano piece called Compassion.

I am working on the impact of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) on molluscan endocrinology, which can accidentally impact their growth, reproduction, and survival. Regulatory tests on the impact of EDCs focus on protecting fish and humans (vertebrates), leaving mollusc populations subjected to fatal threats.

  • As a kid, I loved drawing and still do, I won a national drawing competition in Cyprus, my home country, I also wanted to become an actor but Science won me over.

Fake news is fabricated information that mimics news media content in form but not in organizational process or intent. I’m investigating the effects of main fake news characteristics (emotional appeals, biases, and fabrications) on the degree of believing fake news and sharing them over social media.

Hydrogen is one of the promising alternative car fuels, it can be used in an internal combustion engine (ICE) as a zero-emission fuel, producing water as emissions. For this to happen, we need to have the best possible engine design in order to have optimum efficiency and performance. My project is based on modelling a dedicated H2-ICE engine and using this unique fuel with optimum efficiency and performance.

  • I love coffee, especially espresso. I cannot finish a day without coffee if I want to get anything done.
  • Although I’ve been driving since I was 18, I still find myself on the wrong side of the roads in London!
  • I love aquariums, especially salt-water aquariums. I had a wonderful tank at home, and watched the corals and fish swim by as if I was watching TV.

6G wireless communications technology promises to send data up to terahertz per second, with lower energy consumption, unlimited coverage, no mobility boundaries and end-of-zero coverage spots. But this data needs protecting from noise, interference or distraction, and I am designing and implementing a new channel coding technique to do this.

The Tobacco Control space in Nigeria has been dominated by the opinions of the adult population who were recorded as the highest consumers of cigarettes. With increasing use of tobacco products by the young population, my research uses participatory co-design to design effective communication of tobacco smoking prevention messages and campaigns.

  • I love to watch movies more than I love to act in them, but I have featured in a few on screen and on stage.
  • Chocolate is a companion for any occasion.
